Daniel Roviras a obtenu son diplôme d’ingénieur SUPELEC en 1981. Après sept années passées dans l’industrie en recherche et développement, il rejoint le laboratoire d’électronique de l’ENSEEIHT (Toulouse, France) et obtient son doctorat en 1989. Il rejoint l’école d’ingénieur ENSEEIHT en 1992 en tant que maître de conférences et devient professeur des universités en 1999. Depuis 2008 il est professeur du Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (CNAM, Paris, France) sur la chaire de systèmes de télécommunications. Ses activités d’enseignement sont centrées autour des systèmes de radiocommunications. Ses premières activités de recherche ont porté sur les systèmes de transmission infrarouge. Depuis 1992, ses axes de recherche se sont élargis vers les systèmes de communication radio-mobiles et satellites, l’égalisation et la prédistorsion d’amplificateurs non-linéaires, les techniques d’accès, les modulations multi-porteuses et les systèmes MIMO massifs. Il est membre de l’équipe LEATITIA du laboratoire CEDRIC.
