-1- Carrier in industry and university

Being engineer of SUPELEC (Ecole Supérieure d’Electricité, 1981), I began my carrier by 7 years in industry (Aerospatiale, 1982-1989). In 1986, I made a PhD with the LEN7 : Electronics Laboratory of ENSEEIHT (Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Electronique, d’Electrotechnique, d’Informatique, d’Hydraulique de Toulouse, 1986-1989).

From 1989 to 1992 I got a research position in the LEN7 and became assistant professor in INPT/ENSEEIHT in 1992. My research and teaching topics were centred on telecommunications. In 1997, I participated to the elaboration of a new research and teaching department in my engineer school: the « Telecommunications and Networks » department. This department has been created in 1999. After my « Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches » in 1998, I got a full professor position in September 1999. From 1999 to 2008 I was in ENSEEIHT and my research laboratory was IRIT (Institut de Recherche en Informatique de Toulouse).

Since September 2008 I have been granted a position of Full Professor in CNAM Paris (Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers). I am head of the service of « Telecommunication Systems ». My research topics are mainly the same in digital communications and wireless systems in the LAETITIA team of the CEDRIC’s laboratory (EA 4629).

-2- General description of my research activities

From 1986 to 1992 : Electronics and optoelectronics

From 1986 to 1992, I made my research in the Electronics lab. Of ENSEEIHT. I first worked on infrared non-directive communication systems during my PhD (1987-1989) with ASIC integration of the receiver. I participate in two other research contracts : development of an infrared telephony system  (1988-1990), et European Contract ESPRIT (FCPN, Factory Customer Premises Network) (1989-1992).

From 1992 until now : Wireless systems and Digital communications

Since 1992, my research activities have been centered on wireless systems and digital communications and, more precisely, on communication systems in non-linear and time varying channels (satellite or mobile radio type channels). More recently, my research topics have widened to cross layer activities with cooperative communications and cognitive radio systems.

My research topics can be characterized y the following keywords : Wireless systems, Spatial telecommunications, Access methods, Identification modelling and equalization of time varying and/or non- linear channels, localization,  cooperative communications and cognitive radio.

 

Up to now, I have been advisor for 26 PhD students, published more than 130 papers and conference communications and authored more than 30 contract reports. I am currently advisor for 2 PhD students.

My research activities are more than 60% related to industrial contracts (CNES, STNA, Rockwell Collins, Alcatel Space, European projects…). I have been reviewer for 25 PhD defenses.

I am reviewer of several international conferences and journals of the field and associated editor in a navigation journal : "International Journal of Navigation and Observation (Hindawi Publishing Corporation )". I have collaborated with several foreign universities: Ecole Polytechnique de Montréal (Canada), Queensland University (Australia), Académie Technique Militaire de Bucarest (Romania), ENIT, (Tunisia), University of Ceara (Brazil).
