Networks and IoT systems

The Networks and IoT Systems research group focuses on novel network and system architectures integrating virtualization technologies and IoT devices. The group contributions are on the design of new network and system protocols and platforms, on the conception of algorithms orchestrating these protocols and platforms, and on the optimization and securing of the computing and communication infrastructure.

The reference research areas of the group are embedded systems, distributed systems and communication networks. The group adopts a research methodology including modeling, optimization, machine learning and artificial intelligence, standardization and experimentation. The group focuses on the impact of new technologies emerging in the design of programmable IoT devices, network nodes and computing platforms, on the automation and virtualization of the end-to-end network-system stack, and on the conception of novel Internet protocols.

The application spectrum of the solutions studied by the research group team ranges from IoT and user devices to data-center networks and wireless and wired infrastructures making use of network and service function virtualization. Currently the group works on challenges emerging in the orchestration of the network-system infrastructure, in the definition of virtualization and automation protocols for 5G networks and beyond, in the interconnection of decentralized systems as the blockchains, in security and cybersecurity, and in the conception of new programmable and autonomous IoT systems.

Afin de proposer une meilleure expérience aux joueurs et de proposer un jeu particularisé, le jeu doit être adaptable en fonction du contexte global du joueur. Le projet vise dans une approche holistique qui combine à la fois l’individu et ses émotions, et, les influences de l’entourage qui va du bâtiment lui-même à l’atmosphère que dégage le lieu. . Il s’agit en premier lieu d’élaborer un modèle conceptuel du jeu pervasif adaptable basé sur les émotions. La deuxième étape sera de développer une approche d’ingénierie situationnelle du Système d’Information pour ces jeux. L’approche doit être appliquée au domaine des jeux pervasifs mais rester en même temps assez générique pour pouvoir être par la suite étendue aux autres domaines (par exemple, aux jeux dans le contexte médical ou d’apprentissage). La dernière étape sera consacrée à la mise en place de la plateforme correspondante.

  • Description: INTELLIGENTSIA is a collaborative research project funded by the French Agence National pour la Recherche (ANR) public funding agency. In the era of network softwarization, INTELLIGENTSIA objective is to fast move towards automation of end-to-end network operations by leveraging advanced learning algorithms able to scale with large-scale virtualized networks and to meet control and operations requirements of massive IoT use-cases. The targeted scientific contributions are related to the elaboration of a dynamic state machine framework for modeling a network virtualization platform, based on clustering and classification algorithms. The learning framework is meant to discover in real-time known and unknown network states, as well as to anticipate reconfigurations of the network and in particular of novel IoT radio access functions in addition to device behavior and network backhauling. The expected impact includes the enhancement of network automation platforms considered by the Industry and the design of novel IoT radio access functions.
