[Awg14b] Limitation from amplitude to phase modulation conversion in telemetryConférences Internationales sans actes : Dimensional and related measurements at the macroscopic scale, vienne, autriche,Mots clés: laser diode, amplitude modulation, photodetection, amplitude to phase coupling, optical telemetry
Résumé:
A well-known technique for measuring distances consists in measuring the phase shift accumulated by a modulated light during its propagation in air. This has early been used by Fizeau to measure the speed of light, using a cogwheel as a light modulator/demodulator. Nowadays, it is possible to use optoelectronic devices that enable much higher modulation frequency, up to 10 GHz in a simple manner.
