[CAP04] A CBR Approach for Cost Estimation of Database Evolutions

Conférence Internationale avec comité de lecture : CAiSE2004, January 2004,

Résumé: Confronted with software evolution and changes, management of IS has to propose adequate responses to issues such as : - time needed to implement the evolution ? - effort required expressed in man*month ? - level of expertise needed to solve in a cost-efficient way the problem generated by the evolution ? This poster addresses these crucial questions. Our aim is to provide management of IS a Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) approach to software evolution cost estimation. Our CBR tool uses similarity measuresbetween cases, based upon classical mathematical distances using weights defined by experts according to the context. The CBR tool computes a set of similar cases and delivers the value range of numeric items described above and the set of associated textual observations. The poster describes the approach, the CBR tool architecture, the validation process and some applications.
