Smart Card CNAM Benchmark

This project was initiated by Pierre Paradinas when he joined the CNAM as Professor in charge of the "Chaire des  systèmes enfouis et embarqués" (Embedded and Mobile System) at the end of 2003, after 14 years in Gemplus where he set up the Software Research Lab.

The project goal is to establish a benchmark for Java Card technology with an open approach and promote the tools as a reference for smart card industry.

The project was introduced during the e-Smart conference, the welcomme from industry was very positive and mentioned in Smart Card Trends in the October 2004 issue.

Card manufacturers and software providers have already provided cards, reader and software to the project.

Project goals

The Java Card specification defines an API for smart cards, card manufacturers develop and test card with the specification, implemntation reference and test suite provided by Sun Microsystem.

There is no tools with the goals to evaluate the card performances in term of time execution and memory cunsumption. Our project intend to provide these tools.

Many softwares are developped for the project :

To avoid difference and increase the precision of results we have develop an approach based on USB-reader with PC/SC driver and an other with the MP300 reader from Micropross which is able th measure with precision the respond time of the card.

The project will be published on the web.

What we will be published ?
