Short Biography

I received my Masters degree from the Technical University of Vienna in 1988 and my Ph.D. from the Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers (CNAM), Paris in 1994. During my Ph.D., I spent 4 years (1989-1993) at the Verso database group at INRIA. Since 1994, I'm Assistant Professor at CNAM and I'm also continuing my collaboration with INRIA. My teaching activities mainly concern XML and database systems (curriculum vitae, in french/PDF).

Research

I'm currently working on problems concerning the Semantic Web and, more generally, I'm interested in data integration, semi-structured data and query mediation. In addition to my research publications, I also wrote a book on XSLT together with Philippe Rigaux (Comprendre XSLT, O'Reilly). Philippe also created a wonderful conference management tool (paper submission and review) that you can download for free.

I also participated in various program committees of international conferences (DEXA, EDBT2002, VLDB2003) and workshops in conjunction with Caise2001 and ECDL2000.
