[JKC15] A Based-Optimization Scheduling Approach for Multi-processor Platform with DVFS Facilities

Résumé: In this paper, we address the problem of how toallocate a set of periodic tasks when new tasks are added duringruntime due to reconfiguration on multiprocessor systems withDVFS (Dynamic Voltage and frequency Scaling) capability. Sincewhen new tasks are added, the task set may not be feasible to bescheduled with the original processing speed of the processors,we develop a mechanisms to increase the speed of the processorsso that the tasks can still meet their deadlines. We propose anapproach to find the allocation and running speed of the tasksto optimize energy consumption and makespan while meetingtasks timing constraints. More specifically, we propose a com-binatorial optimization method based on integer programmingand heuristics. We introduce an additional approach based ondeadline adjustment used when no available speed can fulfill theobjective. We present the results of a simulation study that showsthe benefits of our assignment method in terms of some metricssuch as time, energy and makespan.
