[DGJ18a] Index Theorem and Applications, a Gentle Review

Conférence Internationale avec comité de lecture : 7th Annual International Conference on Computational Mathematics, Computational Geometry & Statistics (CMCGS 2018) and 6th Annual International Conference on Operations Research and Statistics (ORS 2018), April 2018, pp.1-6, Series Proc. Computational Mathematics Computational Geometry and Statistics (CMCGS), Singapore, Singapore, (DOI: doi: 10.5176/2251-1911CMCGS18.2)

Mots clés: index theorem, supersymmetry, heat kernel, K-theory.

Résumé: The theorem of the index by Atiyah and Singer revolutionized not only modern mathematics but also physics. It provides a theoretical framework to define the supersymmetry : a concept in quantum field theory, not yet discovered. The field theory at macroscopic scale becomes topological at the Planck scale with supersymmetry. We owe it all to the theorem of the Atiyah-Singer index.
